Community Heroes Winners – Trinity Hospice Day Therapy Unit

Trinity Hospice Day Therapy Unit in Blackpool were nominated by Sabrina and they were picked as one of our Community Heroes winners.

This is Sabrina’s touching nomination; “The team of nurses & volunteers at Trinity Hospice day therapy unit are a wonderful team, that provide support to terminal ill people when they need it the most. They help people & their families face the worst time, with dignity. They stand with them side by side & navigate them through the maze of their illness.

My mum went to the day therapy before she passed away & she was very grateful for the care, support and laughs she had whilst there. Her favourite day was when some donkeys were brought in for the patients to interact with. The day therapy team make sure that people with a terminal diagnosis aren’t afraid to keep living to the fullest & support them to do so. Thank you to all Day Therapy Nurses & Volunteers.

The Trinity Day Therapy team sharing the love with one of our fantastic Heroes Hampers – Congratulations, you are true Community Heroes!

We contacted Deborah Wood, the Sister in the Day Therapy Unit at Trinity Hospice Blackpool, who said, “It was a lovely surprise to find out we were nominated by Sabrina for a Local Heroes award, and wonderful to get such great feedback and recognition for the work the team at Trinity do.

Day Therapy is a 16- week programme where we provide support for patients and families living with life limiting illnesses. As a team we feel privileged to be able to do the work we do, and to be part of our patient’s journeys. We aim to empower, help them find quality, and cope with some of the difficult challenges their illness brings.

Day Therapy promotes physical, psychological and spiritual wellbeing, we hope to improve patient confidence and reduce social isolation as so often people with terminal disease often feel this.”

One of our patients said today, “If I had to describe the Day Therapy in three words it would be LOVE, LIFE and LAUGHTER.
