When I was a kid every time I ate a refresher bar it would make my eyes go funny. It still does now! Love them!

My fiance proposed to me over a sharing plate trio of Swizzels inspired desserts. There were Parma violets jelly, drumsticks meringue and love hearts cheesecake. When the desserts were placed in front of me by the waitress I laughed saying they were all mine! I looked down and saw the cheesecake decorated with 6 love hearts all saying 'Marry me'... it still didn't click.
I said to him 'what are the chances of that?...' before looking up and realising how nervous he was and fumbling in his pocket. He then got down on one knee with a ring box in hand and told me how much he loved me and would I Marry him? I was blown away and burst into tears I couldn't answer for some time... the whole restaurant cheered when I finally nodded and said yes. Such an amazing memory (plus I did get to eat all of the dessert)
Fishing all night and had swizzles to keep my sugar levels up. Taste great.
Squashies got that old classic drumstick flavor without all the sticky hassle. Life doesn't get better than that!
A Saturday used to be Daddy-daughter day with my dad. We used to go into our local town center and my dad used to treat us to a bag of traditional sweets from jars in an old sweet shop. These were uncommon at the time. I looked forward to this every week and it brings back feelings of nostalgia for me now thinking about it.
I once rode my bike to the local shop on a hot day with the intention of ordering a Mini Milk lolly.
I pushed my money across the counter and made the request nervously and quietly (as I was only young): "one mini-milk please", only for the proprietor to look at me very strangely.
The gentlemen of the shop then went about preparing my order: imagine my surprise and horror then when he started undoing the jar of mini-EGGS, placed one on the counter and prepared me ALOT of change.
I was too embarrassed to correct the situation and a 10 year old me went off to enjoy his singular mini-egg in the blazing sunshine.
Sweets have always been my favorite !! I always tell my kids about the sweets I had as a child. I used to have a 20p mix up after school, I loved refresher chews . I used to run home from school hoping my mum had bought me my mix up. I would always choose sweets over chocolate. I loved strawberry lolly pops too and parma violets, infact any sweet was a winner!! I still like them now. I would love to win this prize. We also had a sweet van that came passed our home every day and I would ask my dad for money to buy sweets, all the children from my street would queue to buy them.
I loved my double lollies, but as they lasted so long still had it when I
arrived at my second love, the library. The librarian, on spotting my lolly told me to get rid of it or get out. Mortified, I kept the lolly and never went back! I still love books and my grandchildren now love the double lollies.
We went to a sweet shop in Amsterdam. They had lots of random flavours of sweets we have in the UK, it was so cool.

This reminds me of extra special memories of my beloved mum and dad who have now sadly passed - when we were young they couldn't afford to get us sweets often but twice a month we were taken to Irish dancing and our v special treat was getting 20P bag which we filled with drumsticks (love thrm) love hearts and Palmer violets with mum and dads help - special times and memories X

Sweet memory - my little sister was around 5years old and was playing with some sweets on the sofa, arranging them into a smiley face. Once she completed her face there was 1 sweet left over she set to one side. I pointed to each sweet asking what it was, she replied "eye, nose, ear" to each facial part. I finally pointed to the sweet set aside and asked what it was, she looked at me as if i were stupid and said "its a sweet"
