How to Plan a Last Minute Royal Wedding ‘Watch Party’
Here at Swizzels HQ we’re super excited about the royal wedding and if the press coverage is anything to go by, Harry and Meghan’s big day promises to be one of the biggest events of the year. We’re now just days away, but there’s still time to plan a last minute ‘watch party’ and have a royally good knees up in the process. Here’s a few tips to help get things going.
# Set Your Alarm!
To ensure you don’t miss the event set your alarm, when your busy prepping food and welcoming guests, time flies. The wedding is at 12pm on saturday 19th May, it is being broadcast on BBC, Sky News and ITV in the uk.
# Have a Dress Code
You and your guests might not be attending the actual wedding but it doesn’t mean you can’t dress for the occasion! Tell your guests to wear their wedding finest, jewels, white gloves, fascinators the works! Failing that, anything Union Jack is a winner.
# Set the scene
You’d be hard pushed to recreate St George’s Chapel in your living room but you can deck the halls with royal bunting, buy some life-size cardboard cut-outs of the royal family and some masks of the happy couple. Order some Corgi balloons and flags to wave and fill vases with peonies; Megan apparently loves Peonies and we are expecting to see them in St George’s Chapel. And don’t forget to have some royal confetti ready to throw at the TV as the newly weds emerge from the chapel.
# Great British Menu
Prepare for your guests a great British feast, scones with jam and cream, dainty finger finger sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pies and coronation chicken. Megan and Harry have chosen lemon and elderflower as the flavour for their wedding cake. You can make some lemon and elderflower cupcakes and decorate them with regal white icing or for fun decorate with the faces of Megan and Harry! And don’t forget tea served in china cups and bottles of champagne and crystal flutes to toast the happy couple.
