Swizzels’ Charity Involvement (part 1)

Sweets have a remarkable ability to make people happy, even when there’s not much to be cheerful about.  That’s why Swizzels takes charity very seriously.  We want to play our own small part in helping the most vulnerable or disadvantaged in society.  Whilst it is impossible to give to everyone, we do what we can by donating sweets to many worthwhile causes.  Those sweets might go to children’s hospitals, charities or fundraising events.

Here are just 4 wonderful causes we are proud to be associated with:

“Brainwave helps children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve greater independence.  We aim to improve mobility, communication skills, and learning potential, through a range of educational and physical therapies. Our therapists work with the family to devise a unique programme, specifically designed to suit that child’s needs, which will help and encourage them to unlock their own child’s potential.  This might be anything from helping a child walk or ride a bike to recognising colours or writing their name.  The children we work with have a range of conditions including autism, cerebral palsy and Down’s syndrome”.

“……We are delighted with the support Swizzels have given over the last two years by donating sweets for our North West Flagship fundraising events, The Manchester Duck Race which is held every Good Friday at New Bailey and Spinningfields, Manchester.  The event raised over £20,000 and we saw record crowds on the day. The Duck Race is very much a family fun day and we used the sweets Swizzels kindly donated to help raise funds at our Craft Centre which was sponsored by The Lowry so it was extremely popular to say the least. We gave everyone who took part a bag of sweets and we also used some as lucky dip prizes too. After the event we had some sweets left over, so we have been giving them out to the children who come to our centre for their assessments – with parents’ permission of course. Children of all ages love the selection of sweets and many of us have very fond memories of sweets such as Love hearts, Parma Violets and Double Dips!  We can’t thank Swizzels enough for their continued support.”

Starlight brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by wish granting and also by providing fun, entertainment, laughter and distraction for children in every children’s hospital ward and hospice throughout the United Kingdom. All Starlight’s activities are aimed at distracting children from the pain, fear and isolation they can often feel as a result of their illnesses.

Swizzels was delighted to provide sweets to the Starlight Foundation’s Children’s Christmas Party at 11 Downing Street in 2014 & 2015.
