Nothing can beat an indulgent homemade chocolate cake, airy meringue or summery trifle. If you are vegetarian or vegan however, some of the key ingredients used to create these delicious deserts are produced or derived from animals. Thankfully the lovely people at the Vegan Society are sharing the secrets to egg-free cakes and meringues and gelatine-free trifles. Their recipes are easy to follow and taste delicious!

Off The Shelf

Going vegetarian or vegan doesn’t mean you have to stop eating your favourite foods. Many products that you may presume contain animal products actually don’t! Our friends at PETA UK have put together a list of ‘accidentally vegan‘ snacks that you can buy off the shelf in shops and supermarkets.

More and more restaurants and cafes are creating vegan sweets, shakes, ice creams and desserts that look amazing and taste even better! Up and down the country vegan cafes, ice cream parlours and ‘Junk Food’ shops are opening up and our favourite eateries are serving vegan versions of much loved favourites. Love Hearts Ice Lollies

Love Hearts are now available as a tasty and refreshing fruit lolly. Made using Love Hearts flavours: Cherry, Lime, Pineapple and Lemon, the pack contains four pastel-coloured lollies with the well-known fruity sherbet fizz.

The lollies have stayed true to the sweets’ romantic heritage with every ice lolly stick featuring a message of love. The lollies are also designed to look like a classic Love Hearts roll.

The soft textured lollies contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and each ice lolly is just 70 kcal. The ice lollies are available in packs of four from Tesco, Asda and Ocado.
