Madge has had ME for years now and struggles with each and every day. She often has to crawl up her stairs to the bathroom. No-one would ever know though – her smile is like gold dust and brightens up the lives of everyone she comes into contact with.

Her life was spent as a school cleaner. She was valued as the most conscientious cleaner our school had ever known, but she was never paid much. In retirement, she always pays her bills and ‘does the right thing’ and yet never has tuppence left over but, when she does, it goes into presents for others or the charity box.

Illness and poverty have given us a remarkable woman whom many folk love dearly. There is no finer human being known to me. I nominate Madge with great pride.
